Owed €100,000 from UK

I am owed €100,000 plus by a man in England and I don’t have money to pay solicitor is there any thing I can do.

My suggestion is that you approach an Irish Law firm with UK connections or an English law firm directly and ask if they are willing to take on the case on a “no win, no fee” basis.  This would possibly involve your signing up to pay them a percentage of any recovery and it could be between ten and twenty per cent, depending on the nature of the case if it’s for a simple debt.

One of the things that the English solicitors will ask is if this is a simple debt without a dispute or is it a contract claim which might have a defence for bad workmanship or whatever filed against you.  When you contact the law firm make sure that you are able to answer all these questions because unless they know what they are getting in to an English law firm will not take the risk.

I am a member of  the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now known as the American Association of Justice) and they have members from all over the world including the UK www.justice.org  The AAJ  has a comprehensive listing of solicitors who specialise in civil litigation including contract disputes and debt collection.

Here is the link to the public registry of members for UK law firms in the AAJ. Note there are separate listings in the “Country” drop-down menu for England, Scotland and Wales. Pick whichever a law firm closest to where the defendant is located.  http://www.justice.org/cps/rde/xchg/justice/hs.xsl/10374.htm
