Refused citizenship

txt: Koko a taxi driver in dublin,a nigeria living in ireland since 2000,my wife av been given citizenship,n i didnt get due 2 my job i get lot of ticket due to packing on yellow line.wat can i do?

Hi Koko,

The granting of Citizenship is usually done on a points system and one aspect of this is that a person’s character and law abiding nature is taking into account.  Actually getting parking tickets is not a criminal offence and to advise you further I would have to ask what the detailed reasons for refusal were and if there was any indication that re-applying for Citizen after a period might receive a favourable decision.

The one thing I would say Koko is that given that your wife has received citizenship -  for you to be deported would be extremely unlikely because it would involve the break up of a family.  My suggestion is that you try not to get parking tickets for the next few months and re-apply for citizenship, this time with the help of an immigration solicitor.
