Wages owed to worker

My employer went into insolvency and left me short of wages. He has started another Company in the same business sector. What recourse do I have to get paid back my wages?

If the company has gone into liquidation then your entitlement to wages gets priority over many of the other debts of the company.   If it happens that the Company does not have enough money even to pay your ‘priority’ debt for wages then you may be able to recover this from the Government.   The National Employment Rights Authority  (NERA) can be contacted or log on to www.employmentrights.ie     If the amount that you are owed is very substantial then I would advise seeing a Solicitor.   It sounds like your employer may be open to an accusation of fraudulent trading under Company Law and it might be worthwhile investigating the possibility of holding the Directors personally liable.
