Employer wants to scrap VHI benefit

I had a VHI B Option as a benefit paid by the Company in a Group Scheme and now they want to change it and it will cost me €800.00 Can they do this? Dee (Cork)

Hello Dee.

What effectively the Company is trying to do here is re-negotiate your entire remuneration package because of the current economic situation.   It is a matter for negotiation and the alternative may be compulsory redundancies.

If you have a Union or workers’ representatives they should sit down with the employer and discuss the matter fully.
