Redress Board "Double Charging"

With reference to Solicitors double-charging in Residential Institutions abuse cases - it seems that only 25% of Solicitors were guilty of double charging. What a relief. Surely this is unacceptable?

This question arises from an answer given some weeks ago about the so-called double charging scandal  where Solicitors charged fees awarded to Residential Institution claimants over and above the fixed court costs granted by the Tribunal.

The statistics here which I was quoting was that a total of 180 cases out of 14,513 cases being handled by solicitors were reported to the Law Society for “double charging”. As a result of the enquiries made by the Law Society and a High Court decision in the ‘Roberts case’  25% of those complaints appeared to have validity.   That is a total of 45 cases out of 14,513 is 0.3%
