Inheritance Rights of child of previous relationship

Does a child from a previous relationship have any entitlement in a Will if they are left nothing?

Does a child from a previous relationship have any entitlement in a Will if they are left nothing?

Perhaps they do but it must be the natural child of that parent.   Again Section 117 of the Succession Act lays down the obligation on a parent in making a Will that they must make their Will in a manner as “a just and prudent parent may be expected to provide”

Section 117 may not apply if for example that child has been favoured by the parent during the lifetime – (say they bought a house for him or her) and none of the other children have been similarly favoured but all of this is a matter of fact and you should consult a specialist Probate solicitor about this because it is a complicated area and you should do so as soon as possible because there are very short time limitations on bringing a Section 117 claim.
